How to train properly

13 junio, 2017
¿How to train properly? As a health coach and personal trainer, one of the most common mistakes I see around my clients is expecting immediate results from their workouts and thus, performing incorrect trainings, thinking that the harder and the more they train, the better and the bigger the results. When we train, we should have the outmost respect towards our body, know ourselves, have a plan and never take our body to its limit. Results will be visible whenever you carry out the proper training and nutrition, depending on your goals.

  1. Know your limits

I’ve had countless encounters with people who drop off their trainings or get injured as soon as they begin their training. This is simply because they didn’t know or respected their real limits. How to know your limits? It’s no easy task, and it’s the number one reason people seek personal trainers. Experiment with several variables of your training until you’re able to establish your comfort zone, and then, take it from there, systematically push yourself outside of that zone and see until what point you’re able to adapt without feeling uncomfortable. If you don’t leave your comfort zone, you’re not pushing yourself enough, but make sure you never ignore your limits.

  1. No pain, no gain?

This myth has been repeated by millions of people, it’s become so popular that you’ll usually hear it from people that honestly think that working the life out of them every time they train is the only way to achieve progress. Do not do that! Forget about fighting or resisting the pain. Discomfort is the way your body has to let you know you’re taking it too far. Pain is a good sign to stop what you’re doing and reassess.

  1. The myth of a low carb diet

Although watching the amount of carbs you ingest is a good way of watching your weight, there’s no need to obsess about it. This type of conduct is simply not sustainable. Carbs are necessary for a balanced diet, especially if you work out frequently.

  1. Create variety in your workouts

Any type of workout regime should include variables that can be performed to alternate your training and reach specific goals. Variety is the best way to stay on track and avoid boredom, as well as an effective way to keep your body strong by allowing it to adapt to new and different routines.

  1. Mens Sana in Corpore Sano

The world’s best athletes train their minds as they do their bodies to achieve their goals. So, why not do the same? Visualize your goals and visualize yourself achieving them. Strengthen your body but don’t forget about your mind. The power of your mind is infinite and if you include it in your workouts you’ll achieve a lot more than you originally planned. Visualize your success.

  1. Nutrition

A lot of people get frustrated when they don’t see any results after they’ve been working out for a while, but they never stop to think that nutrition is just as important as exercising. If you want to modify your body and start leading a healthy lifestyle, working out is not enough. It’s not about obsessing about food, but finding a balanced diet that combines with the type of exercise you’re performing and with the goals you have in mind.

Finally, enjoying the process and being patient is vital. Working out should be something you enjoy, not something dreadful. Find the type of exercise that you enjoy and make it part of your daily life.
