I really enjoyed Engineering, since it’s also one of my biggest passions. However, every time I had dinner parties at home and everyone commented on my cooking skills, I couldn’t help but think I might have chosen the wrong path.
My friends loved my cooking so much that when Luis, my childhood friend, decided to organize a special dinner to propose marriage to his girlfriend Renata, he asked me to take care of the dinner preparation. He left everything in my hands and even offered to pay me. I didn’t accept his money, it was an honor to be the one in charge of such an important event and I would be glad to do it for free.
From the very moment Luis asked me to be the chef of his event, I instantly knew what I was going to serve during the special night: mussels in wine sauce and asparagus mousse to snack, cheese soup with grapes as an entrée, followed by a pork tenderloin marinated with chipotle accompanied by buttered spinach, and chocolate cake for dessert.
When the big day came we were all nervous, but equally excited. Luis’ mom took care of the decoration, music was the key to get everyone in the mood and so the dinner began. I never expected I would receive so many compliments from each one of the attendees. They were all charmed with the results! I simply couldn’t believe it. Apparently, I really did have a special talent for cooking.
We all had an amazing night, the couple couldn’t keep the smile off their faces and the night ended up being a party filled with music and dancing. On the next day, I couldn’t stop thinking about the feeling I had during the entire preparation process the night before. I had felt a very special rush running through my body, and my mind started racing with options and ideas. It wasn’t till later that I realized what I had felt was called passion, something I had never felt for Engineering before. In that very moment, I rushed for my computer and looked up for Culinary courses near home, I choose one and paid for it in advance without thinking twice about it.
The course turned out to be everything I expected, I learned new techniques, flavor combinations I would’ve never dreamed of and irresistible dish presentation ideas. When the course was over, I knew this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. After the course, the time came to start looking for clients to offer them my services. I decided to become a home chef because I’ve always loved creating special bonds with each of my clients and because I love devoting myself to a specific events and occasions.
That was when I came across TinkerLink, I started publishing cards and people started contacting me almost immediately. My first client was Andrea, she was putting together an event to celebrate her graduation from university. We arranged a meeting where she told me everything about the event and what she had in mind for the menu. We carried out a previous testing, she was thrilled! On the day of the event I made sure I had with me all the ingredients and tools necessary to prepare the first menu of many to come.
My career as a home chef took off after that special day. After Andrea’s event, I knew that I was doing what I was meant to do, this was my real passion. Andrea recommended me to all the friends and family who attended the event. Soon, a domino effect started to occur, more and more people started to be interested in my services. My life changed forever, I started to work and make money through my passion. I now understand that there is no looking back, I’m on the right track.
