When I arrived to Mexico from the US my greatest fear was facing a country where I didn’t know anyone, I had very few friends, I had to look for a job, start a new life, and pave my way by doing what I knew best. I traveled all over the city delivering hundreds of CVs every day, but I would get few call backs, and never got selected when I did get an interview.
“It was hard to get an opportunity without recommendations from people that could speak good of my work”, and that is why I decided to turn into an English teacher. It’s my native language and I could really take advantage of it. It’s one of my abilities and I had to make the best of it. Working as an English teacher, that was my way.
I started offering my services as an English teacher among my group of contacts. I had very few students in the beginning, but soon, I started gaining recognition through word-of-mouth. My students were the ones who recommended me among their circle of contacts, and I began receiving more work thanks to these recommendations. Soon, it wasn’t necessary to go out and promote myself, I just received requests from people who were interested in learning English and that’s how I became a great English teacher.
Teaching fills you with happiness and satisfaction, I enjoy helping others through my job. Every day I meet people that want to learn a new language to accomplish their life goals. Now I try to get the most out of my knowledge and skills. I’m the owner of my company, I manage my time and I always strive to give my best.
Now, not only do I teach, I’m also broadening my horizons and hiring experts to help me reach more people.
